After being dumped off in an orphanage by his mother when he was only seven years old, life forces Darrell Monroe to quickly grow up at an early age. SK was an amazon.com author recommendation and I have to say that I am hooked!!! This is a true page-turner as is the entire SCH series. I basically read the whole series in 4 days because I could not put my Kindle down. Each book has more pages to read than the last (which I absolutely love). SK's attention to detail plus her ability to add exciting plot twists made this a winner for me. The characters don't do the stereotypical run-of-the-mill things to solve their problems but the things we wish we could do in reality when we or our loved ones have been wronged...My advice: if this is your first SK book, read the books in the order that they were written. I know this says "prequel" but you'll enjoy it more in the order SK wrote them.
Thanks to SK for making purchasing the SCH series easy by listing her books in order, inside of each book. I didn't have to do a massive book/cutomer review/author website hunt to find out if this was part of a series or where this particular book fit (which I have had to do with other authors' books too many times to mention) I was able to buy all of the books at the same time. However, I chose to read this book first and although, it was an excellent read, I kind of spoiled it for myself.
This book is a "treat-book" an "between-meals-snack" that satisfies the reader's curiosities & questions from the previous books, by giving you more insight into the main characters which endeared Darrell and Marcus to me even more (if that is even possible). So reading this book out of order sort of dulled my hunger because I had my "treat" first...but not hardly enough to ruin my appetite. :)

This story was so damn good! I love Darrel and Roni together. Their chemistry is so intense its scary! This is the sexiest couple out of all the SCH Books hands down! I cried so hard at this book, because what happens is so sad. But it is so amazingly written. You will not be disappointed with this book. I suggest that you read the first two books before you read this one, that way you know exactly whats going on. Buried Secrets and Twisted Obsessions are books 1 and 2 in the series.
Darrell's story had an interesting start. Getting to know him and understanding his idiosyncrasies was nice. Im not sure how I feel about what happened with Ronie.. Also Darrell's criminal justice payback in response to Ronies situation. Overall a good read.
I had been anticipating this book and I was NOT disappointed. This was a phenomenal read, filled with love, lust, revenge. I love Darell aka Eclipse and I loved his romance with Roni, his friendship with Bryan and how Author Sk took us through his life and showed us his growth. She opened Darrell up so we could see his pain, his struggle, his triumph as he finally found his way through the maze called life. Excellent job Author Sk, and I'm anxiously awaiting the "sequel" to this, cause yeah, I didn't miss the hint given...lol..
Like I expected my girl SK did not disappoint. Beginning of an Eclipse was the perfect way to give us insight into the characters Marcus and Darrel before Buried Secrets. I absolutely loved the way SK put everything into perspective. It's like I've bonded with the characters of the Sin City series. I loved Darrel's character and his abiltity to still love after his experiences as a young boy, and teenager. Thank goodness he had Marcus to put that balance in his life. Like always I don't want to put any spoilers in this review. This is a great fast paced read that does not fall short of the drama, and passionate head board banging sex SK is known for giving her readers. HOT read and once again my girl SK delivered another great story.
This woman can write her tail off...where oh where is BOOK .seven or eight in this series if you count this prequel that allows you to know and understand the main character--Darrell,whose story is continued in another story and involved him and Jerra St.James. S.K. although the number of editing errors(mostly grammatical) is fewer than most novels, they are still annoying. While, I love your novels, the errors that occur in every single novel is annoying and disrupts the flow of the story. Can you step up your game and get a good editor,?
This was such a great story, the prequel into the person Darrell is was nothing short of Awesome! I wondered where he got his "gansta" from and now I know. It made me laugh, cry, and cuss all at the same time. Although his arrogance was a little much at times, SK really endeared him to me, knowing his background I understood him alot better. The chemistry between him and Roni was HOT! I can't believe SK put that bug in our ear at the end! Now I'm on the edge of my seat. I can't wait till the loose ends all get tied together. Get this book! but make sure you have something or someone handy to cool you down 'cause IT'S HOT!!!!
I have read the whole Sin City Series and I agree, if you haven't read the series I would read this one first. It flows right in to Buried Secrets, although it was written last. Darrell "Eclipse" Monroe works, plays, and fights hard, but most of all he loves even harder. He's definitely a force to be reckoned with and you would not want to get on his bad side. I loved him and Roni together, however I still feel that Jerra is the woman for him. I hated when Roni died....only to discover hmmm maybe she didn't die! Can you say....Soap Opera!!....I feel a "All My Children", "One Life to Live" moment in their future.
The only downside to this series is there are only three books right now...and you are definitely gonna want more. A Must Read series!! I will be waiting and watching for more!!
